Presented the eighth edition

New date with one of the most symbolic popular races that take place in Menorca. This Saturday, May 27, a day of reflection before the elections on Sunday, May 28, the 10/5 Miles Ciutat de Maó in what will be its eighth edition, a race already consolidated in the sports calendar that runs through the historical and natural heritage of the Port of Maó while combining routes of great beauty by the sea and the privileged passage through unique spaces such as the Fortress of La Mola, the Casetes de Vorera, the Naval Base or the Pinto Island, others. This new edition organized by Unisport Consulting with the sponsorship of the Tourism Promotion Foundation was presented today. A special and different test to any of the ones that take place on the island because it is measured in miles and rewards its winners with DO Mahón Menorca cheese. The presentation ceremony took place this morning and had a wide representation of authorities and sponsors . The organization expects to reach 200 registrations.

DEPARTURE AT 18.00 AND DECATHLON BACKS

As already happened last year, it remains as schedule dand exit of the test at 18.00 hours to avoid the strongest hours of sun exposure. “Last year we were able to verify that it was much better for the participants to leave an hour later than we had done in previous editions considering that between 12 and 4 p.m., these are the hours of greatest radiation alone” explain Manuel Hernandez, Career Director. The number distribution will be done again like the previous edition at the Decathlon shopping center in the Polígon Industrial de Maó, where the participants will receive the race shirt and the runner’s bag.

At the sporting level, the event will have no variations with the two routes, the 10 miles, with departure from the Fortress of La Mola and arrival at the Maritime Station on its longest slope, and the 5 miles with departure to Cala Llonga by short route. The organization will transport all runners by bus from the Maritime Station to the starting line. As has happened in the last two editions, a television team will record the test which will later be broadcast by Movistar 0, Teledeporte, and TV3 thanks to an agreement that Unisport Consulting has signed with the different channels.
